Located in the heart of Roseville, La Huaca is a vibrant Peruvian and Nuevo Latino restaurant that masterfully celebrates the rich flavors of Peru’s coastal and highland culinary traditions. This inviting spot specializes in seafood and traditional dishes, delivering an authentic taste experience that transports diners straight to the shores of Lima and the Andean mountains.
Guests are drawn to La Huaca’s carefully curated menu, which boasts standout dishes like the creamy and comforting Aji De Gallina, the tender and succulent Lamb Shank, and the refreshingly zesty Ceviche de Ají Amarillo, which is gluten-free and bursts with Peruvian chili heat balanced by fresh, bright citrus. Another must-try is the Lomo Saltado Mar Y Tierra, a vibrant surf-and-turf stir-fry that expertly blends beef and seafood with Peruvian spices. For those seeking hearty, gluten-free options, the Seco de Cordero Con Frijoles and Tacu Tacu a Lo Pobre offer robust flavors packed with traditional comfort.
On the lighter side, their salads are not simply afterthoughts but thoughtfully composed plates such as the Caesar’s Mango, which combines crisp romaine with a tropical twist, and the zesty Solterito de Quinua – a quinoa salad bursting with fresh vegetables, olives, and panela cheese, perfect for a refreshing start to any meal.
La Huaca also excels in its appetizers, especially the Yucas Rellenas, featuring golden, crispy yucca croquettes stuffed with mozzarella and served alongside a tangy Huancaína sauce that perfectly complements the richness. Pair these with their Peruvian-style paella, Arroz Del Pacífico Sur, for a truly satisfying seafood experience.
Beyond the appetizers and mains, La Huaca’s soups such as the Chupe de Camarones and Chupe Mixto chowders impress with their creamy textures and harmonious blend of shrimp, mahi-mahi, Andean herbs, and Peruvian corn, topped with a delicate fried egg – an absolute comfort in every spoonful.
The atmosphere at La Huaca is lively and colorful, featuring décor that pays tribute to Peruvian culture through thoughtful cultural references that enrich the dining experience. While the energy is dynamic, it can lean towards being bustling, making it ideal for social gatherings or festive occasions rather than a quiet night out.
Customer feedback consistently highlights the friendly and attentive staff as a key element of the experience. From newcomers to aficionados, the team’s helpful guidance ensures each visit is both enjoyable and memorable. Diners appreciate the freshness and authenticity of the dishes, noting that each bite tells a story of Peru’s diverse culinary heritage.
For dessert, the delicate Crème Brulee De Chirimoya offers a creamy, tropical finish, while the traditional mazamorra morada – a purple corn pudding slow-cooked with fruit and cinnamon – provides a sweet, nostalgic end to any meal.
Whether visiting for an elegant dinner, a festive lunch buffet, or a special family celebration, La Huaca in Roseville promises a genuine and flavorful journey through the best of Peruvian cuisine, leaving guests with vibrant memories and a craving to return.

4-Star Review: A decent spot for Peruvian food, though it has its ups and downs. The quality of the food was excellent—flavors were authentic and fresh. However, the portions for the appetizers were quite small, which felt a bit underwhelming for the price. The ambiance was lively, but it leaned toward being too loud for a relaxed meal. On the plus side, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience enjoyable overall. The pricing felt a bit steep for what you get, but if you’re craving good Peruvian flavors, it’s worth a visit.
Fantastic Peruvian Lunch Buffet! I stopped by for their lunch buffet and it was excellent! The food was fresh, flavorful, and not too heavy — just really well-balanced, authentic Peruvian cooking. They also had a dessert called mazamorra morada, made from purple corn and slow-cooked for five hours with fruit and cinnamon. It was incredible! As a pescatarian, I loved the variety of fish options. The service was fast, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. This restaurant truly deserves much more attention — everything about it was wonderful.
My two friends and I came here today for the Criollo buffet and we even tried the mimosas. This was a delightful experience. All the food was fresh, unique, and packed with flavor! Service was incredibly cordial, helpful with explanations and attentive. This brunch was something that will leave me with many pleasant memories unlike many places I've been! I'm glad we came!
We celebrated a family member’s birthday at La Huaca Peruvian Restaurant in Roseville, and it was a great choice. We arrived in the afternoon for a late lunch and found the restaurant quiet, which allowed us to enjoy a relaxed meal together. We started with two of their house-made drinks: Chicha Morada, a refreshing purple corn drink, and Maracuyá, a tangy passion fruit drink. Both were tasty and set a nice tone for our meal. We then shared Ceviche Clásico, empanadas, and fried plantains. The ceviche was the highlight—fresh and full of flavor. The empanadas were warm and savory, and the plantains were perfectly cooked. Our server was the only one working that day, and he was attentive and patient. He answered our questions and checked on us often, which made our experience even better. For our main courses, we tried several traditional Peruvian dishes. The Aguadito de Pollo, a chicken soup, was rich and comforting. I ordered Lomo Saltado, a stir-fry of beef, onions, tomatoes, and fries, which was well-seasoned and satisfying. My partner chose Pollo a la Brasa, Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken. It disappeared quickly, and I can see why; it was outstanding. To celebrate, the staff surprised us with Peruvian hats and brought out a cheesecake with a candle. This added a fun touch to the birthday celebration. La Huaca was founded by Peruvian restaurateurs who wanted to share their homeland's flavors and traditions in Northern California. The restaurant's name, “Huaca,” means a sacred place in Quechua, showing their goal of honoring Peru’s rich culinary heritage. They are especially known for their ceviche and rotisserie chicken, making La Huaca a popular spot for authentic Peruvian food. Overall, our first visit to La Huaca was wonderful. The food, drinks, service, and festive atmosphere made our time special. We look forward to returning, whether for another family celebration or when we crave a real taste of Peru.
The food was amazing. Incredible conglomerate of flavors. Fresh and authentic. Bread was warm and delicious. Great service from Charles who helped me determine what to get as it was my first time. Very cool decorations with cultural reference. Will be back.
The causa limeña was incredible. Very unique with a slight lime flavor. Highly recommend. My dinner entre, TALLARINES A LA HUANCAINA CON LOMO SALTADO*, was also delicious and combined very unique flavors. There was also a unique gift store.
The lunch buffet was very tasty. I really enjoyed the fish but the pork and chicken dishes were excellent. I sampled a few of the soups and enjoyed all of them. The desserts were of a perfect sampling size as well and I enjoyed the flavors overall. The chichi morado drink was very pleasant and refreshing. I'll definitely come back.
